Italian and Pizzeria Restaurant in Central Shoreham
We often visit Tosca for a lunchtime bite to eat, and occasionally venture down there in the evenings too.
Lunchtimes are quite informal, which is nice. The (lovely) staff seem to have more time for a laugh and a joke. During the evenings the place gets a bit busier, but the service is still good.
Food is great - if I had one criticism it would be that they need to cook the pizzas for another minute or two - the thin bases are sometimes a bit soggy in the middle, and toppings (especially the pizza with an egg cracked on it) can be undercooked. But that's only a minor point, the rest of the food is always excellent.
One good point is that during the busy evening shift the restaurant is split into two areas, with large groups (often families) in the original area, and smaller groups (couples, fours) on smaller tables in the new extension. This means that smaller groups don't get drowned out by the noise from big parties.
I love Tosca, and I'm sure it'll remain one of my regular haunts.
Very disappointing, I went there for my husbands b'day, house wine tasted like vinegar, proberly left open to long, diet coke was more like coloured water. food - I had the fish cakes, very dry, tough and heavy, when I mentioned this I was proudley informed 'they are made here!' I think i would have rather they had been imported! My mother in law had a hair in her rice with the Sea Bass meal.....the best part of the meal apparently was the chianti which i did not try as i was driving. First and last visit...disappointing that i cloose to try it on a special occasion.
Our first choice for a great night out for superb food, wine, staff and atmosphere - the place buzzes like a real Italian restaurant should!!
