Lovely pub
Well I'm still waiting.
Yes,the manager of the Royal George did ring and apologise and offer my husband & myself a free meal each beacause of the terrible meal that we had on the 24th July 2011 - incidentally our 40th Wedding anniversary - but I asked him if he could put it in writing as if he wasn't on duty who would believe us that we were allowed a free meal.
8 days later and nothing, very bad service again.
I had written in my letter that on Sundays, the Royal George make an extra charge of £3.10 making the cost per person £6.79.
For that extra money we got dirty cutlery,a man who didn't know how to carve meat, more like hack meat, roast beef totally in edible (the manager said the whole batch had been like that,so why didn't they take it off instead of thinking customers would it it - I would have had some pork instead),and a choice of very poor vegetable no cabbage or Brussel sprouts one associates with a Sunday roast dinner.
We usually eat in the week there, but as we had celebrated our anniversay the evening before, we decided to eat locally, which was an very bad decision on our part as although we got an apology,no letter saying we could have a free meal,in fact now I want my money refunded.
My advise, don't be like me check if there is clean cutlery and the tables were set up - they weren't on this occassion and if the "chef" can't slice meat properly go to carvery like the Toby where they can.
Incidentally as the charge goes up for Sunday do the staff get a wage increase too?
Great meal for £3.50
