The Crown and Anchor must be the most popular pub in Shoreham with its superb bar areas, live music (on certain nights), excellent selection of beers and a menu to simply die for. Usually busy on most nights of the week, but especially on a Friday and Saturday night, so if your looking for a quiet drink the C&A is probably not for you. A great outdoor space with views of the River Adur to Shoreham Beach, offers an extra place to enjoy the sun in the summer months.

Mixed bag

Fish menu good value. Avoid friday and saturday nights. Tuns into a rowdy place with bouncers outside and often fighting in the street. Lovely view from outdoor terrace if you go during the day. Watch out for the cheapest house wine. I sent it back as it was so bad. Staff not surprised at this and I got the impression they know it's bad!!

Dissappointed

I have visited the Crown and Anchor on several occasions and have always been pleased with the food and service. I therefore felt confident in suggesting to my friends that we go there for a birthday celebration. What a disappointment, we arrived in the cocktail bar at 7pm for pre dinner cocktails only to be told that cocktails were not being served until later in the evening. We went to our table at around 8pm, it was very busy and staff appeared harassed and rushed off their feet. The waitress that took our order was brusque and stroppy which made us feel quite uncomfortable. We ordered two bottles of wine during the course of the evening, both of which were dumped on the table without being opened or poured. Two of our meals were not up to the usual standard. My friend very politely and calmly explained this and it was agreed that one of the meals would be taken off the bill but here comes the best bit...the owner then came over to ask what the problem was, we explained about the meals and that the waitress who served us was obviously harassed and was lacking in customer service at which point he said 'that's my wife, do what you want' or words to that effect and walked off. Certainly a birthday celebration I do not wish to remember and I feel embarrassed that I recommended this pub to my friends. If you are intending to visit the Crown and Anchor I would avoid Saturday nights.

Daytime Is fine

We go quite often with our 6 year old for Lunch.

Good atmosphere, never been at night though.

The food has always been good and well cooked and the view at high tide is a great one to enjoy with a Harveys...
