I’m only up here for this photo because Spinalman threatened me with a chinese burn if I didn’t ………………. now the bugger’s walked off with the ladder!

Seeing those blue walls - was it ten years or so ago? - reminds me of the black paint and even a ghastly salmon pink at one time. Outrageous but I bet it got the pub a lot of attention!

 It must be about 35 years ago that Mr Dick West a shipwright, of Southwick completely rebuild and painted the Pirate, and the prow of the varnished boat. Prior to that the old pirate, looked very tired
 and was held together by numerous coats of paint.
