Description:
For those interested in the people and characters in old photos this is a gem and is probably late 19th century rather than early 20th. Pencilled on the back is 'Buckingham Park?' - it is probably local but it could be anywhere. The ladies provide the most interest with their OTT hats ranging from a bird that has crash-landed on one lady's head (eighth standing from the right); a huge pie crust number(to the right of the boy with folded arms); and half a garden's worth of flowers (extreme left). Mind you this last lady is a stunning beauty with a radiant smile and stands next to an elderly man whose own hat and clothes seem almost Quaker in style - perhaps he was a preacher and this is a church outing?
