Description:
William Winton’s despondent report whilst praising the generosity of Carnival President Major Sexton bemoans the general lack of financial support and the fact that the town has created a carnival committee, presumably without involving him. Obviously taking umbridge to this Winton concludes the report by proposing to leave the organisation of future events to the new committee. As it turned out this veiled threat seems to have worked as William continued his carnivals but only until 1926 after which it seems the town did take over. The subscription list and prizes donated is shown in the three pages W10bq,r and s.
