A few issues this morning:

- The drop down in the top right hand corner seems to be expanded, so I can't see the "New Messages" link. I can't close the grey box.
- If I log out, I can't log in using Chrome. I get a BBPixel error message.
- If I log in using IE, I can't post a message. When I hit the 'post' button it just dumps me back to the front page.

I hope this message is going to work - it's being sent from an already logged-in machine at work.

Just confirmed via a different PC, logins are definitely broken when using the latest version of Chrome.

Hi Guys,

Yes, we ran the update to fix the main "white page" issue and its resulted in several other problems. Many apologies, but the Indian developer is working on it now (even though its the middle of the night in Mumbai!). I couldn't login earlier and sent him a list of issues. He's working on them now, so please bear with us.
As you can see, I can login so its beginning to be fixed.
Please let me know, however, if you find any more problems with the site.
Many thanks,
Pete

ps: Paul - many thanks for the txt chap :-)

I get that BBPixel error in both places.

Like I said, fine in IE, but broken in Chrome.

I posted at 1430 which registered as posting at 1330. The old hour difference again. I was still playing snooker with Trotters at 1330. But when I looked a little later to 'answer my' post and point it out, it had corrected itself!

Sorted the Chrome / login issue.

Looks like someone updated a .js file but kept the old name, so the browser was working with a cached copy. Cleared my cache and now the login works fine.

When updating Javascript files it's always a good idea to keep a version number in the file name. Even for minor changes.

P.

(And it's stupid that in Chrome, CTRL-F5 doesn't refresh .js files).

As usual a brilliant peice of deduction Paul, many thanks for having a look. We're slowly getting there and now are fixing a few final issues. These include:

  • "Register a new member" box from the forum link - CSS of the pop-up box is incorrect
  • Once logged in a user cannot logout from the "blue" login box, but can logout from the link in the forums
  • Adjusting the CSS to cover IE, Firefox, Chrome & Safari

Are there any other problems that anyone have noticed that we should be aware of ? If so, please let me know as we hope to fix everything today (fingers crossed!).

At least the "white page" issue seems to have been resolved.

Many thanks for everyones patience !

Regards,

Pete

The main thing I'd say is that you need to test both Desktop Safari and Mobile Safari (iPhone, iPad) as they can behave quite differently in places. Shout if you want to borrow an iPad for a few days.

A very good point Paul. If you do happen to have an iPad lying around, I would really appreciate a loan to test the site. You wouldn't happen to be working form home today would you ? I could kill two birds with one stone as I still need to collect those books you very kindly offered.
Let me know when your around for me to pop up.
Many thanks for all of your advice with this, its most appreciated.
Cheers,
Pete

My trending was spotted by the dear old Grauniad.

Pause this at 20:00 on the Friday... ;-)
