i recently visited sussex yacht club with several girlie friends in view to join, but was rather taken aback by the leary old farts in one corner, abusive, drunk, everytime they chattedd to you(to which we trid to ignore) they look you up and down like a piece of filth, just wanting you to do something for them (or to them). absolutely horrible. i had been told about the people in the club, but thought id try and see for myself, the five of us walked out in disgust. its not a place for youngsters...ie any woman under 50, and especially 20 year olds. they should close it down, its not what you expect from a shorham business. marks out of ten? a big fat wobbly zero

Ah that lovely evocative word 'Club' it's very use should have sent a few warning shots across your bows mate.
I have made it a lifelong passion never to belong to any organisation that uses the word in it's title.
Mind you they probably wouldn't have me. We must give thanks for small blessings.
You may well have been saved a terrible ordeal.
Good luck and please don't let the attitude of these few people put you off living in one of the best places on the coast.
Happy sailing.

After reading the 'Shoreham Swingers' thread, and now this one. I'm putting two and two together about your treatment there. Think they had something else in mind...........? :D
