Can anyone explain why we have had letters from Adur Council asking us if we would prefer that they enforced parking regulations against people who park on our grass verges? Under what circumstances would we prefer that they parked on the grass verges? Is there some deeper Machiavellian plot? Please explain/put forward conspiracy theories..

Perhaps I am mistaken but looking at a lot of the pavements on the beach there must have one time been grass verges; particularly true of Old Fort Road and Beach Green. This grass no doubt having been removed for economic reasons.
Paving these areas has made the walking area at least ample, an odd car parked could hardly be construed as an obstruction. Might it not be a good idea to encourage parking on these areas, as in any case most people do, and strictly discourage parking on grassed areas.
I have yet to see significant numbers of vehicles parked on grassed areas.
Parking on the beach only becomes any sort of problem during a woefully short summer season; then not really a problem more perhaps a touch of the real world brought to the oasis. To see people enjoying themselves on our beaches is a shortlived pleasure during the season. One thing that must surely attract them is the ease of access and the safe almost remote feeling of the beach.
For myself I cannot see why any further restrictions are needed.
BEWARE lest the council use an excuse to remove the last few areas of grass. Perhaps if adjoining properties had the responsibility of maintaining these areas....................

Dear confused
How about a small private bet.
It is that unless residents take action to protect the last remaining stretches of grass verges they will be paved within two years.
Any takers?
Oh and by the way, the wager. Two pints in the Lazy Toad.
Perhaps the adminstrators of this site would care to be the final judges.
