Arts favourite back for Autumn
You may have thought the festival season was over for another year -but there's one festival that takes place in Adur in Autumn, where you won't need your wellies ! Imaginative venues range from picturesque medieval St Mary de Haura Church in Shoreham to the Tudor splendour of St Mary's House in Bramber hosting a selection of fine music for the 15th year of Adur Arts Live .
This year's festival begins on 20th September and runs until the end of November with it's high calibre array of classical musicians, free lunch time concerts and this year some drama as well. The first event takes place on a Saturday afternoon "The Art Circus" it's free and is a blend of choral music, songsters and poetry both inside and outside of St Mary de Haura church (20th Sept).
Two favourites return to the festival, Peirs Adams, on recorder, will perform this year with the Talkestra Ensemble including concertos by Vivaldi and Templeman (Sat 11th October St Mary de Haura 7.30pm).
Programmed this year at St Mary’s House in Bramber on 15th November is world class flautist Rowland Sutherland who's joined by Alan Thomas on guitar.
Adur Arts Live organised by the Adur Arts Forum is, as usual, headed by Musical Director Chris Gander. He says " Once again we are placing the emphasis on music from other cultures and newly composed work. What better example than a new composition based on the Chinese Calendar and performed by Bobby Chen and his trio" (Sat 22nd Nov Steyning Centre 7.30pm )
The Boundstone Community Band, The Rude Mechanicals and The Brighton Concert Orchestra are also in the line up with a first visit to the festival by Harmonica Player Frank Semus. Drama makes its appearance in the Festival on 1st November with readings of new short plays from Shoreham playwrights Judy Upton, Jenny Pulling and Trevor Harvey.
