The Sad Passing on Emma Jane Allen PDF Print E-mail
Written by Susan Andrews

I know that the Allen family has been resident in Shoreham for hundreds of years, so  I thought you might like to know that my mother (possibly the last Allen born in Shoreham and the daughter of the town's last ferryman, Sam Allen), passed away on 25th January aged 95 years.  Mum was born Emma Jane Allen on 1st January 1913 and married Harry Molden in St Mary de Haura on 14th or 15th June 1940.  Dad was station foreman at Shoreham for several years before ill health forced him to retire and he decided to move us all to Oldham.

Piles of wood hit Shoreham Beach PDF Print E-mail
Written by shoreham1

Shoreham Beach Wood PileOver 250,000 tonnes of wood from the stricken "Ice Prince" has, after a week, landed on the beach of Sussex and Shoreham. From as far as Littlehampton all the way to Brighton the beaches are piled high with planks of rough timber.
The police and coastguard are out in force reminding everyone that this wood is not for salvage and will be cleared by a Worthing based salvage Company in due course. Police are stationed at the exit to the beach searching vehicles for "stolen wood".
