A chance to learn about making mosaics in Shoreham-by-Sea
If you live in Shoreham you may have seen the floor mosaic outside the second hand furniture shop, Revival, on Brunswick Road. Denise who made this now has some more of her mosaics hanging in Brio, the Italian restaurant near the station. For anyone who has thought they would like to try making a mosaic but doesn’t know where to start, there is now the opportunity to find out how. From January 2009, Denise will be passing on her enthusiasm for this craft by running four hour mosaic workshops at her studio in Shoreham. These will be ideal for complete beginners.
Making mosaics is a great way to recycle materials, use up left over tiles or make something beautiful from things you find. You can also use it to restore old furniture and give something past its best a new lease of life. It is a very satisfying, absorbing and relaxing pastime which seems to make time fly by! There are two dates set for January – Sunday 4th and Monday 12th. There will be a maximum of 4 places on each workshop, so if you are interested, do book soon to avoid disappointment. You will have fun, learn lots, and leave with a small mosaic that you have made or which you can complete at home. To reserve a place you can go to the contacts page of the web site at http://www.somosaic.co.uk/. This will also give you more idea of what can be done with mosaic and may inspire you to start the New Year by getting creative!
