We didn“t have a river-side table but sat a couple of tables back both looking out at the river - a good spot to watch the dusk and chat. The staff were courteous, friendly but not too friendly - though I couldn“t easily understand one of them with his accent, but my hearing isn“t too great so that was probably me. We both had the two-course spring menu, which meant any two dishes including from the specials board. My starter of smoked mackerel and crab salad came in a small turret with rocket and lettuce and some dressing mixed in. The flavours were excellent and it `melded“ just right - not sure how to explain when it simply `works“ but it did. Then I had a zucchini and parmesan risotto with poached egg and fillet of mackerel - it sounds bland but the flavour and consistency were very good, the egg was perfectly cooked, the plate was hot (one of my must-haves for hot food) and (apart from the haddock, which was smoked - not sure that the menu stated this - and the flavour too strong for me) it was absolutely scrummy. My hub had a lamb shank with v good mash and gravy (I sneaked some) and then a huge and delicious crumble and custard. With a large glass of wine each it came to £50 for two - for a Tuesday night this seems a lot to me but when the food and wine“s this good, the welcome“s sincere, the atmosphere great and the view calming I don“t begrudge it - I“m not sure I“d want to be stuck in the middle next to the kitchen or eat there when it“s busy, based on other reviews. But then, perhaps that makes it more of a party.

My wife and I often eat at Nia's and we adore it - we sometimes take our 18 month old son in and the staff are always accommodating, and welcoming, tip toeing around him if he is asleep and bringing him pens etc to keep him amused.
The food is very very good, although the menu needs a change soon. We have always relished a meal here; some have said that it is costly but it's actually cheaper than the Crown which is also very good. The wine list is fabulous and breakfast is superb, especially with a Coconut and Pineapple smoothie.
Shoreham's jewel in the high street.

I too went to nia on valentines night and had a very different experience. The service was a little slow due to how busy the restaurant was, the waiters did make us feel welcome and apologised for the delay. With that in mind my girlfriend and I enjoyed some lovely wine and complimentary bread and olives, we decided to take a relaxed approach to the night given it was so busy. We love nia and although there was a delay the food was great!

Me and my girlfriend visited nia on valentines day on great recommendation from many friends. we must have been there for almost 2 hours before we received our mains. the starters were cold, the veg was cold and the extractor fan was so noisy that we couldn't hear the music? our welcome drinks came out half hour after we sat down. The bottle of wine was nice and so was the duck but we waited a long time for everything and we left without having desserts.
