This is one of the few pubs that my sister & I where my sister and I had dinner where we left a tip. We ate here several times as we were staying in Old Shoreham Road and it was one our way home from the railway station.

We enjoyed good food and very friendly staff.

This pub is part of Shoreham's history having originally been part of the 'Swiss Gardens'. It has great potential with the large garden, children's play area and lake. However, the fact is that the service is poor, the atmosphere inside is non-existent and the food is some of the worst I have encountered. I've eaten here three or four times in the past, on the basis of being their with friends and hoping I was just unlucky before, but it is consistently bad. It is largely excessively greasy, undercooked, cold, soggy and just unappealling in every possible way. The orders are frequently processed incorrectly, and the staff clearly don't care two hoots if you have a complaint.

Good for a quick pint in the garden on a Sunny afternoon if you've got kids to entertain, otherwise avoid!

This is an apalling place. The service was extremely slow. One starter was missed off the table & we had to wait 10 minutes. The prawn cocktail was served on a tea plate, with bread balanced on the side (no way of buttering it unless you held it in your hand!). The scampi had had shell-like bits in it & the waitress argued that it was not a foreign body. The side plate of veg were cold & by the time they'd been heated up the meat & roast potatoes were cold. The hot treacle pud came with spray cream which dissolved into a foamy water.... There was a clown wandering round (hopefully employed by Swiss Cottage), but he seemed a rather interesting character & totally ignored the adults & spoke only to the children (Ed. isn't that his job ?). The only good thing was the face painting which was offered. I would usually take up comments such as this with the establishment, but there is no way I would ever set foot in there again so there's absolutely no point. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU LIKE GOOD SERVICE & GOOD FOOD!

The Swiss Cottage is generally a pub for families due to its large garden and play area. It is child-friendly and kids do seem to have a great time, especially in the summer when during warm weekend days it is often packed. However, the food leaves much to be desired and there is no atmosphere in the evenings. It is usually dead on a weekend night and has no decent music or sound system. On top of which the woman's toilet had some sort of flooding/leaking problem for about two+ years that has never been fixed.
