£5.20 for a large glass of very average Pinot Grigio (£15 per bottle),unfriendly staff and no atmosphere....need I say more. Won't be returning in a hurry and would not recommend it to anyone I know.

having just moved to shoreham this year i ventured forth to try the loval scene and came across the crown and anchor the menu loked ok si i went in and booked a table for four that evening for 8
we arrived at 7.45 and went downstairs to the restraurant area and asked for the table
i was asked when did i book the table as it wasnt in the book i said around midday that day and i also told the waiter that it was he that took the booking .
He said it wasnt and then said it wasnt in the book and we would have to wait while he sorted it .
Ten minutes later it transpired he did take the booking and without apologisinf showed us to the table which was up some rather grubby stairs to an ill lit balconey area with a view out of thew window to thwe refuse bins.
I asked to be moved to another table and reluntantly was moved downstairs after a lot of grumping
they laid the table well he chucked knifes and forks and paper serviettes on the table and stomped off
i follwed him and asked for the wine and and main menus
he then came back plonked them in a heap on the table
we ordered two bottles of wine one red and one white and some beers he came back with two red and no white and the wrong wine

and the lager was slopped on the table
we ordered and sat down and the right wine appeared eventually one was corked
he came back after 20 mins told us the gnocchi was off and the soup had run out so no starters then and there was no fish sausages or pork.
we had burgers which were mediocre and semi rare sent them back and paid for the ine and tried to see the manger who was not helpful and left
i am a executive chef for a number of restraurants in london and bath and i can honestly say if my staff treted customes the way i was treatedthey would be sacked instantly

i only hope this was a one off and needless to say i wont eat there again or recoommend it to anyone in future

After passing through Shoreham we decided to try and rest up at the Crown & Anchor. 4 meals in total with 4 drinks, Harveys ale was good quality too. Food took just over 30 mins to arrive but seemed very busy. Amazed to see other reviews on this site, I guess I may have been exceptionally lucky or maybe other comments have been taken on board.

This place has so much more potential than any pub, bar or restaurant in Shoreham, but and its a big but. There is no atmosphere and unfortunately you cant buy that or create it easily. The pub is now catering for the passing trade or the occasional local and sometimes it struggles to cope with the service quality it needs to encourage return trade. Its decor is clean and tidy, but not new and mostly just a paint over job. More money needed

As a chef in london and ireland i came to visit friends in shoreham who took me to the crown and anchor as they had read good reviews on your site they had booked a table for 2.00 pm on sunday outside on the terrace
we arrived at around 1.50 to be told that the table was occupied and when did we book anyway after a conversation with a rathewr abrupt chap it transpired they had double booked the table and the midday booking hadnt left so we sat down and and waited . there was no apology or any explanation we just told that they were busy and had to wait
no offer of a drink or anything
we sat in a rather uncomfortable seat for another 30 mins to be shown rather abruptly to our table which still showed signs of the previous occupiers
the wine list and menu was stuck on the table and the chap stomped off
we ordered sunday roast burgers and onion rings and two bottles of house white and red which was ok but overpriced
the meal arrived the roast looked likeit had been microwaved to death was piping hot and dry the yorkshire pudding had moved to lancashire the burgers arrived but no onion rings and they were plonked down with a thump
i went to the witer and explained that ther were no onion rings and the roasts were dry and rembled a damien hurst artwork to be told it was sunday and they were busy and what did you want him to do the onion rings arrived 20 mins late and the meal was atrocious
i complained and the wiater chappies just said we are busy what do you expect
i wouldnt reccomend this place to my worst enemy
