Shoreham Sea Anglers Unite over West Arm environment PDF Print E-mail
Written by Graeme Carter

Over 20 regular and concerned sea anglers have formed an angling club dedicated to improving the fishing environment on the West Shoreham Arm. For years this Arm has been smelly and filthy with litter, especially during the summer months, and some of the angling practices leave a lot to be desired. Size limits of fish caught are being ignored which will have seriously damaging effects on fish stocks.

The anglers, who have got together as a result of the local forum on http://www.worldseafishing.com/ have formed “ Shoreham Angling Squad “ (or S.A.S for short) with the aim of improving the environment for sea anglers on the West Arm.

It is the aim of the club to :

  • To promote a cleaner environment in which we can fish
  • Educate all anglers to adhere to a recognised set of size limits
  • Aid members in improving their techniques
  • Encourage the safety of all and obey the regulations of the facility
  • Adopt a more brotherly and social nature to angling
At a later date it is hoped to expand on these initial aims and maybe run teach-ins, fishing reports and competitions etc.

Any sea anglers interested in helping us achieve these goals are welcome to join the S.A.S  (Free of Charge) until April 2007.
