Shoreham Churches Together are once again planning events for this year's One World Week which runs from 21st October (Half term week). The theme for this year is “Altogether Now” and here in Shoreham we are concentrating on “Footprints” and during the week hope to raise awareness of ways in which we can all reduce our carbon footprint with a variety of exciting events for all ages. Shoreham Library are kindly hosting a display from 15th-27th October which will include details of all the events planned and local MP Tim Loughton will be visiting the exhibition on Monday 15th October at 11.30am, there will also be an information stall at the Farmers Market in Shoreham on Saturday 13th October all in the run up to the week itself. Once again “food and fun” will balance the serious aspect of the week and everyone is invited to take part in some or all of the events. This year the Southlanders will open their Community cafe in Milward Court, Williams Road on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings with the theme India, Africa and Asia when they will be launching their recipe book and have a children's fancy dress event as well as their usual refreshments on sale. The Indian Cottage Tandoori in the High Street are also joining in the events and on Tuesday 23rd will be donating 33% from all meals sold to WATERAID. There will be several chances for anyone to have their carbon footprint measured and to join in a walk along Widewater, or a cycle ride along the river bank. The WSCC mobile Energy Roadshow will be at the Shoreham Centre Wednesday morning. Also planned is a Bollywood film evening, Fair Trade wine and cheese tasting, Fair Trade Coffee morning, a talk by local artist Maggie Organ about her One World Moon calendar drawings, under 5's storytime in Shoreham library, a Taize worship evening and on Saturday 27th to conclude the week “The Shoreham Globalization Conference” with well known and international speakers in St. Mary's Church and on Sunday 28th the final event will be a joint service at Shoreham Free Church at 6pm.
