This year if you were one of the thousands that took part in Shoreham's Beach Dreams weekend you will have seen 21 year old Saravanna Chettiar. He rode atop the colourful elephant in the parade and performed a traditional Indian dance for our entertainment - As an international volunteer travelling over from Bangalore with Portslade Charity Concordia, Saroo the name we got to know him by -  brought something more than a colourful spectacle. He packed in his belongings his own photographs of street and working children .. just a few of thousands of youngsters across India that live and work on the streets.......

ImageSaroo grew up selling flowers to fund his education his mother still sells  bananas on the streets. As a volunteer helping these children Saroo wprks as a  part of the Born Free International Arts School. He has been described by the founder of the school John Deveraj as ' my best ambassador " Through the work of this school Saroo and many others who volunteer there help give hope and direction to street children by bringing them into their classrooms. The school is described as  working for the liberation of toiling children. Now studying at St Josephs College in Bangalore, Saroo is also hoping to take an MA in Social work.
